The Octahedron with eight faces is one of the 5 Platonic solids and stands for the Element Fire. When six of them come together, they create octahedral space, which leaves tetrahedral gaps. This geometry is representative for the p-orbital electron structure of Argon (element 18 on the Periodic table). It is a noble gas and does not react with other atoms, i.e. it has fulfilled its form.

Created during the lockdown in the mountains of India, this dot work by Dr. Heike Bielek expresses Octahedral space inside a sphere on the backdrop of triangular 2D space. With tons of dots on black paper and much love for detail, this piece of art took many hours for it to come into fruition.
